Our Mission

Here at the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, we are working towards creating a more just and compassionate society. Money that is raised through sales in Vinnies shops allows us to operate our vital services and programs in the community.

Our Focus

As a member and volunteer-based lay Catholic organisation, we have a long and proud history of supporting and advocating for

  • people experiencing homelessness
  • people with disability
  • women and their children escaping domestic violence
  • people experiencing drug and alcohol addiction
  • people facing financial hardship
  • people experiencing mental health conditions, and
  • refugees and people seeking asylum

How we make a difference

In the past year, we’ve assisted nearly 100,000 individuals and distributed $13.7m in financial and material assistance to residents in need.

Of the people reaching out, 82% needed food assistance, 44% were experiencing housing stress and one in three people were seeking assistance for the first time.

We’re passionate about lifting people up, and giving hope to people experiencing disadvantage at a time when they need it most. In NSW, our support services are here for those facing tough times.

Our members are committed to making a difference, providing food, clothing, everyday essentials, assistance with bills, an ear to listen, and more. At the same time, our services provide crisis support, no interest loans, assistance with domestic and family violence, residential homelessness services, disability services, drug and alcohol services, and a range of other programs.

Your purchases from our shops are directly helping people, as they raise vital funds to keep these programs and services running.

OUR MISSION

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and to bring about a more just and compassionate society.

Our Vision

The Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering "a hand up" to people in need. We do this by respecting every person's human dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.
